Our Methodology
We combine mindfulness , yoga, and art into a uniquely effective curriculum that supports and encourages physical well-being, creativity, and mental and emotional balance and clarity.
Mindfulness
Through simple, time-tested grounding and centering techniques, such as mantras and deep breathing, young people become more fully present, aware of their surroundings, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around them. Emotional regulation is improved, allowing for more thoughtful and skillful responses.
Yoga
Our yoga program combines physical asanas (poses), intentional breathing, and other activities. Physically, yoga enhances flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In addition, concentration and sense of calmness and relaxation improves
Art
The simple act of making art promotes self-discovery and creative expression. PLAY’s approach encourages each person to find their own voice and become comfortable with self-expression and new artistic mediums. This process stimulates social-emotional development, establishing healthy coping skills and self-awareness. By visually responding to prompts, we become better at identifying and processing complex emotions, events, and people; we gain an improved understanding of ourselves and the world. Our art program helps children engage in critical thinking and establish agency over their own thoughts, hopes, and dreams.
